With its tranquil tree-lined inlet, quaint shop fronts and irresistible laid-back vibe, Deep Cove is a big hit with visitors and locals alike. Here are six of our favourite things to do in this gorgeous corner of Vancouver’s North Shore.

1. Go for a Paddle

Deep Cove area is the launch point for Indian Arm, a tree-lined, finger-shaped fjord that bends northwards for 30 kilometres into the heart of the mountains. Paddling Indian Arm offers a unique opportunity to view the mountains and native wildlife from sea level. The Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak Centre offers everything from straight-up kayak rentals, to lessons and guided day and weekend paddles. Ocean kayaks, canoes and surf skis can be rented.

2. Take a Coast Salish Tour

Takaya Tours is a Coast Salish tour company that takes visitors out onto the tranquil waters of Deep Cove in an authentic cedar canoe. First Nations guides sing songs, tell stories and relate the history of their people in the region.

3. Have a Donut

No visit to Deep Cove is complete without a stop at Honey Doughnuts & Goodies. You simply have not been to Deep Cove unless you’ve feasted on a honey donut!

4. Sample Pacific Northwest Dining at its Best

The Arms Reach Bistro is an award-winning Pacific Northwest restaurant and the perfect spot for brunch, lunch or dinner. The views of Indian Arm are pretty amazing too!

5. Hike like a Boy Scout

Deep Cove is also the eastern starting point of the Baden Powell Trail that spans the North Shore. The first section of the trail is known by the locals as Quarry Rock. This short hiking trail that takes you to a large rock with a view of the entire Deep Cove and Indian Arm area.

6. Visit a Craft Distillery

Sons of Vancouver is a small batch distillery with a batch of dynamic BC spirits made from local grains. Check out their chili vodka. Or make your way to the lounge at the Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers for a rhubarb smash cocktail.

Nestled in the foothills of the North Shore Mountains, the Holiday Inn North Vancouver is a great accommodation option if you’re heading to Deep Cove this spring. Enjoy complimentary parking and Wi-Fi, have a dip in the heated indoor pool or hot tub, or sample an ice cold beer in Churchill’s Lounge or Seymour’s Pub.
