Grab the popcorn: There are some great movies to see at the well-renowned North Shore International Film Series that’s gracing screens in North Vancouver.
 
Organized by the dynamic North Vancouver Community Arts Council in co-operation with the Toronto International Film Festival, the series sees for-one-night-only screenings of TIFF movies at the Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas.

Faces Places
March 7, 7pm at Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas

This subtitled French movie follows the story of 88-year-old nouvelle vague legend Agnès Varda, who teams up with 33-year-old French photographer and muralist JR as they travel through France’s small villages.
 

Meditation Park
April 11, 7pm at Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas

Meditation Park tells the tale of a devoted wife and mother who is forced to reassess her reverence for her husband after she finds another woman’s undergarment in his laundry. The all-star cast includes Cheng Pei Pei, Sandra Oh, Tzi Ma and Don McKellar.
 

The Leisure Seeker
April 25, 7pm at Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas

This touching movie tells the story of Ella and John, who escape a destiny of medical care that would keep them apart forever when they board their dated ‘Leisure Seeker’ RV for an on the road to Key West.
 

The Final Portrait
May 9, 7pm at Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas

This touching movie shares the story of the offbeat friendship between American writer and art-lover James Lord and Alberto Giacometti. Set in Paris in 1964, it focuses on Lord sitting for a portrait by Giacometti.
 

Finding Your Feet

As the newly minted “Lady” Abbot, Sandra (Imelda Staunton) is on top of the world and looking forward to enjoying the rest of her life with her husband, Mike (John Sessions). However, when Sandra discovers Mike embracing her best friend and uncovers their affair, her plans for their idyllic retirement dissolve before her eyes. She moves in with her eccentric sister, Bif, and embarks on a journey to find herself and reconnect with her decidedly less posh roots.
