North Vancouver's Lower Lonsdale, also known as the Shipyard District, is quickly becoming one of the city's hottest neighbourhoods. Cradled by the North Shore mountains and the Burrard Inlet, there's no shortage of year-round entertainment and events in this happening and historic 'hood:

Shipyards Night Market
Revamp your Friday nights this summer with the Shipyards Night Market, returning for another season of live music, shopping, and dining. The market is open from 5 pm - 10 pm every Friday until September 28, featuring over 100 vendors and a marketplace full of local BC artisans, bakers, and farmers. Hungry? Check out the market's 40+ food trucks and vendors in 'hot food alley', where you can dig into local favourites like Tacofino or Le Tigre, or sit down at Green Leaf Brewery with a cold pint of local beer and a slice (or two) of Bowen Island Pizza. Make sure to check out the Shipbuilder's Stage for live music and the Beer Garden for some local craft beer, cider and handcrafted cocktails.

Pride on the Pier
While many other countries around the world celebrate Pride in June to honour Stonewall, Vancouver's festivities take place in July and August to commemorate the city's inaugural parade in August 1973. One of these many celebrations takes place on Lower Lonsdale's scenic pier on July 31, where you can don your best pride gear for a night of food, games, drag performances, community organizations and DJs.

Shipped Waterfront Festival
New this year is SHIPPED, a waterfront music festival, on August 11. The four stages at SHIPPED will feature local and electronic recording artists, including HUMANS, a JUNO-nominated indie-electronic duo. Celebrating the newly renovated Shipyards District, SHIPPED will have something fun for all ages: try the free zip line, give axe throwing a whirl, or explore the artisans and vendors, DJs, buskers, intimate acoustic sets.

Want to catch some of the excitement in the newly-renovated Shipyards this summer? Then book a North Shore getaway at the Holiday Inn North Vancouver. You can enjoy complimentary parking and Wi-Fi, have a dip in the heated indoor pool or hot tub or sample an ice cold beer in Churchill’s Lounge or Seymour’s Pub.
