Vancouver is an edenic paradise. With gorgeous scenery at every turn, it isn’t hard to find an activity to do outdoors in this city. One of our favourite activities is hiking. Exploring Vancouver’s many rainforests, oceans, and mountains is definitely worth your time. Below, we’ve compiled a list of three can’t-miss summer hikes to do right here in North Vancouver. Check them out!

Grouse Grind

Prepare for the hike of a lifetime. The Grouse Grind is a mere 2.9 kilometers long. Although this may not sound like much, those 2.9 kilometres are almost entirely vertical, which means you can think of the Grind as nature’s stairmaster! While challenging, it is a popular activity among both locals and visitors alike, with over 150,000 people hiking the trail each year. Expect it to take between one and a half and two hours to reach the top. Be sure to bring a camera with you, as you won’t believe the view once you’re up there!

Baden Powell Trail

The Baden Powell Trail is one of our favourite hikes in the city. The trail passes right through our neighbourhood, Vancouver’s North Shore, and takes you through part of Lynn Canyon Park. It is extremely well marked, which makes it perfect for both beginner and advanced hikers. The trail typically takes between one and one and a half hours to complete. On an especially hot summer’s day, we also recommend visiting Lynn Canyon’s 30 Foot Pool, a popular swimming hole for the locals.

Cliff Walk

Fair warning: Cliff Walk is not for the faint of heart. This daring hiking trail is part of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. It is one of the newest activities the park has to offer, opening in 2011. This cliffside hike will take you through rainforest vegetation, all the way to a granite cliff face above the Capilano River. You can expect suspended walkways, as well as some awe-inspiring views. This is the perfect activity to do either before or after you walk across the iconic, newly reopened Capilano Suspension Bridge.
