Chinese New Year celebrations

The celebrations are not over yet. Coming up in February is the Lunar New Year, which means Vancouver will be light up with special events and things to do and see.

Lunar New Year events across the city

There will be an abundance of events happening across Vancouver and Richmond to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Chinese New Year falls on Tuesday, February 5, this year but there will be events happening weeks in advance. You can start the celebrations early on January 26 celebrating the Lunar New Year at Lonsdale Quay Market. Join in on an authentic Fan Dancing workshop, create traditional crafts, and stay for The Lion’s blessing of the Market at 3pm with its stunning dance.

Over in the heart of the city, LunarFest is taking place at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza. From Feb. 9 to 10, create DIY lanterns, take a money bath, and learn more about the culture and traditions surrounding the upcoming Year of the Pig.

Also on Sunday, Feb. 10, the Chinese New Year Parade will take over Vancouver’s Chinatown with lion dances, martial arts performances, marching bands and so much more. However you want to celebrate, check out the full list of events happening in Vancouver to ring in the Lunar New Year

102.7 The Peak Scavenger Hunt

This isn’t your regular ski trip. On Saturday, February 2, make your way to Mount Seymour to find thousands of dollars of ski and snowboard prizes hidden across the mountain. Hosted by 102.7 The Peak radio station, the Hunt will take place from 12pm to 3pm. If you find a sweet souvenir, you can enjoy the rest of the slopes in style.

Whether you’re visiting to celebrate the Year of the Pig, or making the most of the ski and snowboard season, you’ll find luck with Holiday Inn and Suites in North Vancouver as your home base. We are located right at the foothills of Mount Seymour, allowing you to spend more time on the slopes, while also being 20 minutes away from the core of Vancouver.

Whether you’re hoping for a change of luck in the New Year, or for a lucky find in a scavenger hunt, don’t leave where you stay up to chance! Book your stay so you can focus on your trip!
