This winter might feel a bit long in Vancouver, but luckily there are ways to pass the time. From indulging in the city’s annual hot chocolate festival to going for a peaceful waterside walk, check out this list of things to do in Vancouver this winter.

Order Delivery or Takeout from Your Favourite Restaurant

Support local this winter without having to deal with the cold, rainy weather by ordering delivery or takeout from your favourite Vancouver restaurant. Local restaurants need our support now more than ever, and to make themselves more accessible, many who didn’t previously offer takeout or delivery are now offering both. Check delivery services like UberEats or Skip the Dishes to see what’s available. Or better yet, phone the restaurant of your choice directly and save them the fees associated with these third party services. Vancouver eateries currently offering delivery range from the finest sushi in the city from Miku to fresh, authentic pasta from Ask For Luigi.

Indulge in the Hot Chocolate Festival

Vancouver’s annual Hot Chocolate Festival is back, with COVID-19 restrictions in place. There are nearly 40 participating cafes and restaurants this year, offering up to a total of 87 new hot chocolate creations. Participating locations include Ladurée, Soirette, Honolulu Coffee, Butter Baked Goods, 49th Parallel Roasters + Lucky’s Donuts, and Minked Chocolates. Offerings range from 49th Parallel’s orange and dark chocolate Jaffa hot chocolate to Ladurée’s white chocolate, rose, and chantilly cream hot chocolate. The Hot Chocolate Festival is on now until February 14, 2021.

Get Outdoors and Go For a Walk Around the Seawall

We’ve all been cooped up inside long enough. Now is the time to get outdoors and go for a walk. Take advantage of the quieter crowds in Lynn Canyon. Listen to some music or a podcast while you walk, or take in the sounds of the water and trees around you. In our opinion, there is nothing more peaceful than a winter walk in North Vancouver (so long as you dress appropriately!).
